Avery Dennison supports Cotton made in Africa

promotional image Cotton made in AfricaAvery Dennison is a global partner of the “Cotton made in Africa” project. The project, initiated by Dr. Michael Otto and funded by the foundation “Aid by Trade” aims to promote sustainable cotton farming in Africa. International retailers and textile apparel manufacturers – including Otto Group, Tchibo, Puma and Tom Tailor – have already joined this programme. Avery Dennison is participating in support of the project and will also be the exclusive, global supplier of the garment labels and tags to all of the partners involved.

The Foundation’s Cotton made in Africa project aims to build a bridge between cotton farmers in Africa and the large textile producers and consumers in western countries. A strong pool of demand for good quality cotton will create opportunities for sustainable production in one of the poorest regions of the world, and a chance for the farmers to compete in the global market. The project moreover favours framework conditions enabling farmers children to attend school as education is one of most important tools of sustainable development.

Avery Dennison supplies the labels, which show the quality seal for “Cotton made in Africa”. This mark is the key element of identification adopted by the campaign to communicate to its rapidly growing audience of ecologically and socially responsible customers.
